The currrently posted deadlines for graduate student proposals to
the Dissertation Improvement Programs in the Social Sciences are as
follows:

Sociology Oct 15, 2009 & Feb 15, 2010
Political Science  Jan 15, 2010
Cultural Anthropology  Jan 15, 2010 & Aug 15,2010
Economics  Jan 18, 2010

 Although these application deadlines are several months away, it is
probably best to attend a workshop closer to your application deadline.

This workshop is designed to help graduate students prepare for
the NSF Dissertation Improvement Grants for Graduate Students.  In this
workshop you will learn:

  • the submission process (Duke SPS system & NSF Fastlane, deadlines, etc.)
  • how to get a Fastlane account, if you don't already have one (mandatory for submission)
  • tips on how to use Fastlane
  • NSF guidelines for this opportunity
  • feedback from a peer who has gone through the process
  • plenty of time for Q&A (use of human subjects, budgets, etc.)
