Conflict of Interest

Duke University is committed to ensuring its faculty an open and
productive environment in which to conduct teaching, patient care, and
research. The university's concern with conflict of interest reflects
the ever-increasing complexity of our society, our various relations
with each other and with outside institutions, along with the
heightened national and governmental sensitivity to such matters.
Duke's full COI policy is located in the Faculty Handbook, Appendix O, with related policies listed in Chapter 5, and Appendix P.

The ORS Assistant Director for Compliance serves as the Committee
Coordinator for the Campus COI Committee. Individuals under the purview
of this Committee are Duke faculty and employees with a primary
appointment in one of the following:

  • Arts and Sciences and Trinity College,
  • The Fuqua School of Business,
  • Divinity School,
  • School of Law,
  • Nicholas School of the Environment, or
  • Pratt School of Engineering.

Please contact Steven Abels with any questions or concerns.
